Life goes on - Chapter Four

“Bosco, I finish all the paper work.” Leila said as she walked into the hospital room door. “Why haven’t you changed fully? Want to stay a bit longer?” Leila joked, when she saw Bosco in a regular shirt, but still in his hospital pants.

Bosco gave a weak smile. “The nurse was about to help me change, but she got called to do something so she said she be back. I tried changing myself, and I finally got my shirt on, but the pants is just impossible.” Bosco slightly chuckled. “Twenty something year - oh wait… THIRTY something year old, and I can’t dress myself.”

“Let me help you.” Leila said as she grabbed his pants that were on top of the bed. She looked at Bosco who looked with a disapproving look. “Bosco, there’s nothing wrong about this, I’m just helping you get your pants on. Nothing more nothing less.” Leila answered back to Bosco even before he could say anything he was going to.

Leila helped Bosco stand up, and he lean a bit towards the wall for extra support. As Leila reached down to his pants to help take it off, Bosco felt awkward. They known each other for so long, but this time it was just so different.

“So where’s Ron and Brendan?” Bosco asked, attempting to start a conversation to ease the awkwardness.

“Ron’s at work and Brendan’s at school.” Leila answered as she zipped up his pants.
-
Bosco sat on the passenger side as he looked out the window looking at all of the buildings they passed by. “Look Leila…the noodle shop.” Bosco said as he saw ‘Fat’s Noodles’. The place open at 7 AM and closed at 11 PM, and since the noodles were good and cheap, the place was always crowded. He still remember when him and Leila worked there.

Leila glanced over at the store and smiled. “That store is always crowded! Remember how you used to sneak in the back to help me with the dishes?”

Bosco let out a laughter. “Of course I remember. Remember that time when he caught me in the back? He said I was slacking with work to go make out with you, and so he had to deduct my pay!”

“Yes! That whole week you ate only rice crackers to make up for the money deducted.” Leila laughed, “After that…you never are rice crackers again!”

Bosco looked at Leila. Her face was just so beautiful, he couldn’t look away…it was like he was caught it a trance. Leila noticed the quietness and she could feel his eyes on her…she glanced over. Seeing Leila’s glance, Bosco snapped out of it. “So…where are we going?”

“Oh…to the nursing agency.”
--
“Hello, My name is Leila.” Leila reached her hand out to shake hands with the young girl in her early twenties. “This is Bosco.” She directed her hand towards Bosco.

“Nice to meet you Leila, Bosco.” The girl said as she went from shaking Leila’s hand to Bosco‘s. “How can I help you today?” She politely asked.

“I spoke to Ms. Tang yesterday, she told me to come meet me today.” Leila replied.

“Oh! Mrs. Ng right?” The girl flashed a smile. “This way please.” She lead them to a round table in the back. “Ms. Tang will be right with you.”

Bosco sat there speechless as he thought of what the young girl called Leila. Mrs. Ng…He always thought Mrs. Wong fit her more.

*Flashback*

“Where are you trying to run off to Mrs. Wong?” Bosco said as he caught Leila in his arms.

“Running from you sir!” Leila joked as she tried prying his arms off her. “And who says I’m Mrs. Wong? Do you see any ring on this finger?” Leila raised her hand towards Bosco. “Call me Ms. TONG!”

Bosco cocked one eyebrow up and the other down. “Ms. Tong? I don’t think that fits you. I never did. I always thought Mrs. Wong fit you more!” He laughed, picking her up swinging her around in circles.

*End Flashback*

“Mr. Wong, Mrs. Ng?” A voice said from behind them. A lady in her mid thirties appeared. “How are you guys doing?” The women said as she extended her hand to shake it with Leila and Bosco. “Hi my name is Sheren Tang, I believe I spoke to you earlier, Leila. So you need a registered nurse for Mr. Bosco Wong?” Sheren asked as she sat down in a chair and open the file in her hands. “You stated that you will being needing a full time nurse. There’s not a lot of full time nurses, since a lot tend to have their own family but we actually do have one available. How about I call her in, and you can interview her to check her out.”

“Yes, that would be great.” Leila nodded. “Thank you.”
--
A young girl in her early twenties appeared. Her face held a smile that went from ear to ear. “Hello. My name is Natalie Tong. You can call me Nurse Tong if you like.” Natalie said as she reached her hands out to shake theirs. “It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you.” Bosco smiled back. “Natalie… do you mind telling me how old you are? You look awfully young.”

Natalie gave a shy smile. “Well actually… I’m 22. I went to nursing school as soon as I graduated from high school.”

Leila smiled, she really liked this Natalie girl. “Can we know a little about your personal life? I’m not trying to be nosy, its just that Bosco can’t really get around without help right now, so I just want to make sure that you can be there, and that there’s not too many distractions.”

Natalie shook her head. “Oh no…its perfectly fine to ask this during a interview. Well… my family which consist of my father, mother, and brothers all live in Canada. I am currently living with my friend, and not dating anyone.”

“Sounds good. You seem like a very nice person. You’re hired. Is there anyway you can start today?” Bosco asked, then noticing that he seemed a bit anxious he re-words. “I mean is there anyway you can start today…because I left the hospital today…and I still have the whole day to pass.”

“Umm, well right now its 12 PM, I won’t be available until 4 this afternoon. Do you really need me now? Is your wife really busy? If so I can go ask Ms. Tang off.” Natalie asked as she looked over to Leila, whom seem to look a bit dazed after she said ‘wife’.

“Oh…she’s…umm…not…my w-wife.” Bosco stuttered.

Natalie let out a little gasp. “I’m really sorry, it’s just that you two really looked like a couple.”

Leila gave a weak smile. “It’s okay. Oh and its alright, you can finish your work, I can just give you his address. You can grab some of your belongings before you come over.” Leila handed Natalie a piece of paper.

“Oh! Almost forgot.” Bosco said suddenly. “You introduced yourself, and we didn’t. Well my name is Bosco Wong… I’m umm… 31 years old. And she..is” Bosco pointed over to Leila. “Leila. She’s… umm well… old so… I don’t want to embarrass her with her age.” Bosco joked trying to lighten the mood.

“You’re old! Look, I see your graying hair…better go quickly dye it you old man.” Leila joked back, softly hitting him on his arm.
