Loving Marcus: 1
In a dark New York apartment, a loud ring of the phone stirred the soundless bedroom and echoed throughout the apartment. Softly growling in annoyance to the repeat piercing rings, a female elbowed her partner, whom slept next to her. “Answer it,” she grumbled in between her sleep. Shifting position with his head buried deeper under his pillow and with comforter drawn up over his shoulders to keep the cool fall weather out, the guy murmured inaudible words as he drifted back to sleep, ignoring her command. The phone persisted to ring making it impossible for the girl to ignore. Being highly irritated, the girl repeatedly elbowed her date with more force as she warned, “Bosco, I mean it! Pull the cord out, whatever, just stop that freaking rings.”
Sighing with great annoyance with his head still deeply buried under his pillow, Bosco reached his hand out and patted around the nightstand in search for his cordless phone. Holding the phone to his ear, Bosco sleepily groaned and answered with impatient, “Hello?”
“Bosco,” the masculine voice greeted with a hint of excitement.
“Marcus?” murmured Bosco in between sleep. He sighed heavily and questioned, “Do you know what time it’s over here?”
“Near four midnight?”
“Uh-huh,” stressed Bosco with an irritable unwelcome tone. At this hour, he had little to no interest to whatever his brother had to say.
“Well, forget about the time. I need to talk to you. Did you felt or sense anything out of the ordinary occurring today?” slyly questioned Marcus with a triumphal smirk on his face, while he attentively waited for a reply.
Rolling his eyes and making fake snoring sound, Bosco grumpily restored, “Yeah, I felt crappy at the moment…” His unwelcome tone was rough and husky, revealing his easily readable temper.
Laughing, Marcus teased his younger brother, “Aww… I thought that you, being my identical twin, would at least sense a tiny bit of my overwhelming excitement.”
“Stop beating around the bushes…just spit it out before I fall asleep,” warned Bosco with a yawn to his twin. The thought of Marcus calling to brag about how well his business was going bought disinterest to Bosco, since it was not a surprising matter that his brother excelled on everything he did.
Marcus had always been an over achiever in everything he put his mind to, especially business. He is smart, confident, and extremely competitive on everything he had ever done, yet he was very considerate and understanding. His high self expectation in perfectionism had earned him many attentions from the ladies. To them, Marcus Wong is flawless and a must have or at least a must have in their dream. With such distinct characteristic, Marcus grew up with everyone adoring him and praising him, especially his parents.
Growing up with such an intelligent and well mannered brother had always made Bosco felt he was left to walk in his brother’s shadow. The worst was that they are identical twins, which automatically made everyone expected Bosco to be as clever and business oriented as Marcus or at least a gentleman like him.
Unlike Marcus, Bosco kept a low profile of his personal matter. He belongs to the carefree type, who will speak his mind and disregard the rules if it became his obstacle. Time was never his enemy, since he valued the pleasure of enjoying his life as it is, rather than spending time to perfect his future. He chose to be quiet and kept things to himself majority of the time, unless someone went too far and step on his nerve, then he will provoke without fear of the consequent his action might bring. His temper and blunt words were well known by those close to him and had earned him the personal space that he seeks. It was this flaw of his that made many people misunderstood and categorized him as a self-centered, obnoxious, and cocky “know-nothing” playboy. Bosco had to admit that beside their birthday, look, and genetic blue print, he had nothing in common with his twin brother Marcus.
“You’re no fun. Anyway, I just thought you’ll want to be the first to know,” informed Marcus with a pause before he spoke with a proud tone that was filled with hint of arrogant, “She said ‘yes’, Bosco.”
Alerted to what his twin was hinting, Bosco swiftly pulled his head out of his pillow. Yes, he had forgotten that there was one more thing they had in common, which was their love for the same girl. A great sense of awareness shook down Bosco’s spine and made him fully awake. His eyes slowly dilated to adjust to the dark surrounding, while his heart seemed to carry more weight as the news sank in. Scooting to sit himself upright, Bosco speechlessly held the phone, not knowing how to react, not knowing what to say. With eyes gazing blankly toward the shadows in his room, Bosco couldn’t control the flooding image of the sweet girl that had unknowingly stolen his heart.
With a triumphal grin, Marcus informed with great enthusiasm, “I nailed it perfectly. The most romantic restaurant looking down into the city, the violinist playing her favorite romantic melody, the fresh cut champagne rose, and most importantly her favorite Italian designer ring; all the elements were there. How could she resist?”
Marcus let out a soft sigh as he recalled the beauty that he had won. She was perfect, a wife that he had always dream of. Pleased, Marcus continued to cut deep into his twin bleeding heart, “You should have seen how her eyes lit up with twinkle of tears and how she smiled so beautifully with those cute dimples, when she nodded to my proposal. Remember how you used to tease her about her dimples?” Hearing total silent for a long while, Marcus called, “Hey, are you there? Bosco?”
Snapping out, Bosco dishearten tone answered, “Yeah, I’m listening…”
“Isn’t this great?” Marcus exclaimed with a bright victorious smile. Marcus is not a shabby romanticist that woos his love 24/7, in fact he is a very business oriented man, whom take his career ambiguously and as priority, but he does truly loved her and only her with all his heart and soul.
It had always been a routine for Marcus to tell his younger twin of every important matter he had achieved, since they had been quite competitive ever since they were young. What he didn’t know was that Bosco had surrendered to him and no longer wanted to compete with him ever since seven years ago. Before Marcus courted his girlfriend when they were in there teenage year, he had always known that his twin Bosco had feeling for her, but never had the gut to go for it, while he went ahead. Little does Marcus knew that to this day, Bosco still had the loving feeling lingers in his heart. Marcus had to admit that he felt proud and superior back then to win the competition and tends to rub it into his twin’s face, but those were just sign of two teenage brothers building bond, where pride from winning was everything. Marcus thought they both had grown out of it and that Bosco had moved on, since he chose to date other girls. If Marcus would have known that every little detail of his love life still bleed his brother’s heart, he wouldn’t had persisted this cruelly.
The trace of warmth and happiness in Marcus’ tone just made Bosco’s heart soured. “Yeah…” softly replied Bosco with sadden eyes feeling a bit moist. His masked spontaneous attitude toward random relationships seemed to melt away revealing his true nature, a guy that does have true emotion and love, perhaps too much.
“You’re okay with it, right?”
“Of course, why wouldn’t I be?” replied Bosco dully.
Warmly smiling in relief, Marcus exclaimed, “Good. I knew you would be happy for us. To tell you the truth, Uncle Paul had been pushing us to tie the knot for quite awhile now. I bet he’ll be so thrill when she announces it to him. She is planning to do so tonight. I must say Uncle Paul had gotten quite fond of me over the years…”
“When did you ask her?” questioned Bosco out of the blue. He felt the needs to know when his hope had been truly pronounced dead.
“What?” confusedly asked Marcus, since he didn’t caught his brother’s question.
Pausing briefly, Bosco clarified, “I meant, when did you proposed to her?” Feeling the slight movement of the bed, Bosco glanced down at his date. He had never taken any of these mini relationships seriously, since his heart had always been lingering about his crush. But Bosco wasn’t a deceiving man either. He had made it clear to all of his partners that he will only treat their short-lived relationship as a game and had only invite those that agree to the rules.
Chuckling, Marcus replied, “Just several hours ago over lunch at Mirage. She was just lovely in white. She will be the most perfect bride.”
Nodding, since she had always been the sweet angel of his heart too, Bosco let out a silent sigh. Unnervingly, he heavily asked, “When’s the wedding?”
“We’re planning to get engaged first, somewhere next month, probably mid of October. Initially, I planned to get married next summer, so it’ll give me some time to get my career further first, but she wanted to get married on Valentine’s Day of next years. You know girls and their needs to place a symbolic theme to every special occasion. Well, it’s only just a few months off from my original plan. It should still give me enough time to build a firm foundation and kick our family empire up a notch,” exclaimed Marcus with confident and a great desire for success. The last thing he wanted was anyone thinking that he depends on other, especially his wife for his success. He much rather depends on his own two hands to proof his intelligent.
“You do love her, right?”
“Of course I do. Bosco, what kind of question is that? You know I’m serious about her. She is smart, sweet, and understanding, what’s there not to love?” questioned Marcus with a grateful sigh. Clearing his throat, Marcus strongly requested in his usual serious and calm tone, “You got to fly back to attend our engagement. She had missed you a great deal. It had been how many years…”
“Seven...” replied Bosco. He had been avoiding them for seven whole years trying to kill his emotional feeling for her, so he won’t be hurting both his twin brother and her. It had been years of pretending to be busy and showing disinterest in their conversation when she phoned him, making their contact drifted apart for years. To think of it, he had missed hearing her sweet angelic voice so much. Though it had been five years that he last heard her voice over the phone, but he could never forget her voice, since it had lived in his mind and accompany every second of his day. With a soft sigh, he finished, “Seven years.” With a split second pause to gather the broken pieces of his heart, Bosco weakly promised, “I’ll try to make it back.” It was a lie. How could he bear to watch their merry ceremony or to address her as his sister-in-law? How could he allow himself a chance to ruin it all? Of course he can’t allow it to happen, not now, not ever.
Marcus seriously demanded, “Not try. Bosco, you had to be here. You’re my only brother. We three basically grew up together. It’s you, who is stupid enough to turn studying oversea into actually settled down over there. Bosco, it’s very important for her and me that you attend to our special day…”
Purposely yawned, Bosco replied, “Don’t worry, I will. Hey Marcus, I have a rehearsal tomorrow…”
“Got it!” snapped Marcus cheerfully with a chuckle. He joked, “Promise I won’t do this to wake you up in the middle of the night again. Well, maybe until the day I found out that I’ll be a father. Alright, you head back to sleep. Good luck with your band. Once we had settle with the exact engagement date, I’ll call you back to let you know, alright?”
“Alright,” flatly replied Bosco. With a short pause of hesitation, Bosco added, “Congratulation. Help me congratulate Tavia too.”

:keke: I knew I could fool a lot of readers  I'm so evil.
Anyway, the first few chapters are more of a introduction to the characters, so may be a bit boring. It'll get more complicated and emotional as the story reveal. Like I had mention in other site, this is a boscolie & fungyi fanfic. Whether it'll be a happy ending for both pair or a tragic one, I still haven't decide.
vickylim81: no, this is my newest fanfic and this forum is the first place that I start posting it. Sorry for the delay in update, I was on vacation. I did started an account on winglin for this fanfic, if you rather read it from there. The url is www.winglin.net/fanfic/kylieLM
J.D: haha, a major BL fan huh? I'll be watching Aqua Hero after I finish with LWoLaP, so maybe I'll get inspired to write a fanfic for them in the future.
