Description: number 2

J.D - July 31, 2006 07:23 AM (GMT)
Bosco was concentrating hard on the desktop screen, trying not to catch Leila's eye contact. He knew what she was thinking; she wanted to know what happened between Sammul Chan and himself. But he didn't want to dig up what he had successfully buried years ago.

"Bosco, you know you can tell me anything..." Leila started, reaching out her hand to take hold of Bosco's.

"It's not something I'm proud of; I've never told anyone about it. Not even Katherine," he croaked, removing his hand from Leila's clutches.

Leila stood up from her chair, walked over to Bosco and knelt down beside him. She turned his chair to face her and made him look at her straight in her eyes.

"There's nothing you got to be ashamed of, I was a prostitute once remember?" Leila comforted him.

Bosco slightly smiled and pulled Leila up and rested her on his lap. "I know; I'm sorry for making you bring it up," he apologised.

"So, what happened?"

Bosco sighed, "It's really hard to say, but...but I might as well be frank with it." Bosco breathed in and swallowed. "I was a...a m-murderer, I murdered Sammul Chan's sister when I was courting her."

Leila froze. She shifted uncomfortably on his lap. Bosco noticing this lifted her off him. She turned around and looked down at him. His eyes were closed as he bathed once again in his guilt.

Leila cleared her throat. "It was all an accident right? You never meant it, that's why you weren't charged."

Bosco bowed his head and mumbled, "No, this was never publicised. I was a very popular lawyer at that age and Paul Chun gave me a deal. He said that if I went a worked for him, Sammul won't press charges. This was against Sammul's wishes of course, but he had no choice since Paul had rescued his father and gave them a job."

"How did it happen?" Leila asked, quietly.

Bosco paused, as though he was trying to think of what to say. A tear dropped from his face. Seeing him like this broke Leila's heart. She quickly gave him a hug and never let go.

"We were fighting at my old house. I don't know what came over me, but forcefully pushed her and she fell and…and…" Bosco gasped. He couldn't go on.

"Did she fall on your knives collection?" Leila asked, slowly.

Bosco nodded and put his face on Leila's shoulder. He hugged her tightly and tears started to flow down his cheeks. "But, the thing was, I didn't want to save her. I could've called the ambulance and she would've been saved, but I just watched her squirm in pain," he gasped between his sobs.

Outside his office, Sammul was watching the whole scene. "You deserved it you bastard. I'm going to make you suffer for the rest of your life. I want you to blame nature for killing all of your loved ones," he cruelly murmured.

Bosco tidied up his work area and looked up to see Leila staring at him with worry. He sighed, "I'm going to have lunch with a client. Why don't you make yourself comfortable at the shops? Here's the money."

Leila looked at his back as he picked up his briefcase and left the room. "Oh, Bosco, if only I can help him," she grieved.

Sammul stepped out of his hiding place and smirked at Leila. "Well there is one way you can," he said.

"Why would you want to help after what he did?" Leila asked.

Sammul walked in and sat down on the office chair and made him comfortable. "Well, of course it would benefit me just a little more," he explained.

Leila looked down at him, "Well, what's the plan?"

Sammul grinned at her. "Silly fool is actually listening to me when he murdered my sister."

Bosco walked into a restaurant and looked around at the tables that were occupied. No sign of him.

"Sir would you like a table for one?" the waiter asked with a rich French accent.

"For two thanks, I'll be waiting for a friend," Bosco replied. The waiter directed him to a table and seated him there.

Bosco looked at his watch, 1:39pm, "Damn kid is late," he thought.

"I'm sorry sir; I don't believe anyone is looking for a beggar here. Now, would you please leave without a fuss?" the waiter before, said loudly.

Bosco looked over and saw a man in a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt. "Raymond," he muttered. Bosco stood up and walked over to the commotion. "That's my friend, so would you please unhand him."

The waiter looked from Bosco to Raymond with disbelief, "You're friend? Oh, I am completely sorry, please, have a meal on the house."

Bosco walked Raymond back to the table and they both sat down. They both stared at each other and never lost eye contact. Bosco got frustrated, and said, "So, can you tell me the story? You are really wasting my time."

"Why bother when you're working for the father of the offender? You're working for Paul Chun am I correct? Tavia is his daughter," Raymond scowled.

"I am aware of their relationship, but justice is not about that is it? So are you going to tell me or are you going to find another lawyer?" Bosco repeated.

"Fine, here's the story. Tavia Chun was the daughter of my boss, I'm her chauffeur. One time, she was really drunk and attempted to assault me while I was driving. I didn't want to since she was the daughter of my boss and I don't want to be in a bad connection with him. I heard from the other chauffeur’s that used to work for her, all got raped by her when she got drunk. Her father then gave them a small amount of money to hush things up and then fired them."

Bosco smiled and thought, "These cases are getting easier and easier."

"I believe that there is always a security camera in the limousine? Do you have it?" Bosco asked.

"Of course I have it, or else I wouldn't dare sue the daughter of my boss!" Raymond exclaimed. Raymond took a little package and handed it to Bosco, "Keep it safe alright? It's my only hope; the boss cleaned the limo to destroy all of the other evidences."

"Don't worry my good friend, it's safe with me," Bosco assured him.

Leila was sitting on the sofa frowning but when she heard Bosco come in she quickly fake a smile. "So, what did Raymond tell you?" Leila said, trying starting a conversation. Bosco walked over to her and pulled her close to him.

"Just, the opposite of what Tavia said. She was the one that raped her, and here's the evidence for it." Bosco pulled out the tape from the package that Raymond gave him and plopped it into the VCR. The television screen lighted up and the couple sitting on the sofa watched Tavia trying to have intercourse while Raymond, frightened to death was still trying to drive.

Leila stood up and turned it off before Tavia got any further. She breathed in and out as she sat down on the coffee table.

Bosco still sitting on the sofa just realised what was happening. "I'm sorry Leila; I didn't know that she would get that far."

Leila looked up and faked a smile again, "Don't worry; you got the case in the bag. I'm sure I won't get uncomfortable in court."

Bosco stood up, picked up the tape and putting it back into the sealed bag. "You don't have to go tomorrow if you don't want to," Bosco said.

"No, I'll go; it's about time I get over it anyway. I'll bring the tape to the people tomorrow for you."

"Bosco Wong, will you please come up and say your testimony," the judge ordered.

Bosco opened the flap and walked out in front of the judge. "I would like to speak to the offender, Tavia Chun," Bosco a requested.

After Tavia said the oath, Bosco continued his testimony.

"Miss. Chun, were you were in the limousine with your chauffeur while you were drunk?"

"Yes, I was drunk, but I was sober enough to know what was happening."

"Miss. Chun, although you were a little sober, you still knew what you were doing? Is that what you were trying to say?"

"Yes, I knew that I don't rape people that are lower class than me." At the moment she said that, her family frozed or shifted uncomfortably.

"Oh? But the security camera indicates otherwise," Bosco said, giving the signal to turn on the screen.

He smiled with content that he had won the case. But wait a minute, how is it that Tavia was smiling with glee and Raymond was the one being horrified?

He looked up at the screen and saw that the tape had been tampered with. It showed the opposite of what was shown last night. Raymond was the one raping Tavia. How can that be? Nobody touched this tape except for him, Raymond and Leila. Leila. Why...He looked over at Leila and saw that she wasn't there and neither was Chan. They were in it together, he realised. He was such an idiot for letting his guard down for a prostitute.

Bosco was sitting at home at his mini bar, drinking vodka, in gulps. He smiled at the amazing acting of Leila Tong. Then he remembered:

#Flashback#

As he walked past a dirty apartment building, a woman, who was smoking, grabbed his arm and cheekily said, "Do you want to give it a try young gentleman? Don't be shy now."

Bosco disgustedly and roughly shook her arm of his. How dare she touch him? "I'm not interested," he spat.

Then a sobbing little girl ran from the stairs of the small apartment building and bumped into Bosco. She smelt a manly odour and quickly jumped back. She stood there trembling, hoping her boss won't punish her for running from a customer. "What are you doing out here? Why do you keep running away from Mr. Chan? He is inside waiting for you to give him pleasure, so give it to him! Go!"

"Of course, I, myself am one of Miss. Tong's daily customers. Have you forgotten the fun we had? It was so fun, Leila always run away with joy," he added.

He laughed, "They knew each other beforehand. So many clues, argh, why am I so foolish to let my guard down?" he cursed, hitting himself on his head repeatedly. A hand suddenly grabbed his to prevent him from going on.

Leila was standing, tears glistening in her eyes. Bosco shook her hand off and laughed. "Are you happy now that you can be with your beloved? No wonder you refused to have intercourse with me for the past years. And all along I thought you didn't want to be reminded that you were a PROSTITUTE!" Bosco roared.

"That's right, this was just a plan to get back at you for killing Myolie," Leila revealed.

Bosco looked at her. "Then why aren't you happy? Why are you crying?" he pointed out.

"Who said that I'm not happy?" Leila laughed as she smiled, "I can't be happier, these are tears of happiness! Finally, getting to leave the old and boring you while going back to the exciting young Sammul. There isn't a reason why I shouldn't be."

He lifted her chin to look at him. "Look at me in the eyes and tell me that you have never had any feelings for me," Bosco whispered.

"Never had I have any sort of feelings for you," Leila blandly said, "And even if I did, I would only be just a replacement for Katherine wasn't I?"

His hand dropped at the moment she said those very words, because he knew in his heart that she was right. "Go, I don't want to see you face again," he said, as he walked, with the support of the walls, into his room. He sat down on his bed as he strained his ears to listen to the front door close. He walked to his balcony and looked down. He saw Sammul Chan standing by his sports car and Leila coming towards him and hopping in the car. They drove off with high speed down the road. That was the day, he knew he lost her forever.
