Hey everyone,

Since I created a forum, I thought I'd use it to get some feedback on what you'd like to see. Here are some of the things I will be adding to the site FOR SURE (in no particular order)

- Photo Gallery (including magazine scans)
- Multimedia section (audio/video clips)
- Bosco's in-depth TVB series info, reviews, character analysis, etc.
- News Archive (of all Bosco-related news in the past)
- Guestbook

Now ALL of this will be eventually up, it's just a matter of when. I have a couple GBs worth of photos and video files that I can't wait to share with you all, but all that takes time to set up and organize. So what I want to know is what you'd like to see FIRST, and I'll work on launching that section first.

My initial plan is to start working on photo gallery, but I'm open to hear all your feedback! If more people want to see other things up first, I'm willing push the gallery down the list.

Oh and if you want to see other things, let me know as well! :)

That's a good idea. I guess you can post it at the "Eye Candy" section for now. If there are a lot of fans submitting and posting their own artwork, I'll open another forum dedicated to that ^__^

I don't want to have too many empty forums right now. I'll add more if the forum gets popular ^__^

Kozzi - Let me know if you need any help cuz, I've got a ton of stuff also that could be shared here, including pics and clips. It's not gonna be easy running an official site, and we don't want you to crash (both the site and you physically).

If you could open up a download section, I could start uploading stuff right away.

How about adding a link at the top for the forum?

Right now, I'm still trying to decide whether I should host these downloads on my server, or an external one. The only thing about hosting it on external ones is that it must be checked on regularly to see if the links expired :( So I'm probably going to put most downloads onto my server (with a few selected bigger files on external).

i was just wondering if you could add "fast reply" on this forum, cos i think its more convenient and encourages ppls to reply cos its easy access. I have already enabled it in "my controls" but somehow it doesnt show up.. could you pls help me? thanks kozzie =D

as far as I know.. Bosco doesn't have an email, or msn, or icq, or any other communication tool that we can contact him with.. except for writing an actual letter to tvb.....

He's probably too busy - plus if all the fans have his email/msn/icq (if he does have them)... then he would probably never go on because he would have too many messages...

I wonder how often he reads those TVB mails. It seems to me that they hire people to read those mail and reply? I don't know... or they just not reply at all.. hahah~ If they do hire people, it might be fun to be hired... then you get to read all these mails to Bosco.. and reply like you are Bosco to the fans :P

Yea exactly. Even if he has it, he wouldn't give it out to the general public or else he'd just be bombarded with SO many msgs :P

It saddens me though that people get hired to read this stuff. If I write a letter to Bosco, I want him to be the one to read it :( Sigh...

Almost Artist have their manager read Fan-letters for them
U know they are so busy with their work that dont have enough time to sleep ( ex: our Bosco ..) how can they have time to read our letter ( or email )

Good Idea!

As the forum's popularity rises, you can consider appointing some experienced and responsible members who actively participate in the forum to be the moderators of certain boards and oversee to forum postings etc.. This can greatly reduce the administrators' burden too.. :D

For the different boards, it could be split into downloads, gallery, fanfictions, works etc to make the board look 'cleaner' and for fans' ease to browse through the forum. Gallery section could include: function/event photos, personal photos, wallpapers, avatars, banners, magazine/newspaper scans, serial snapshots etc.. My meaning of works refer to Bosco's shows and its related synopsis, articles as well as viewers' reviews etc.. :lol:

Ch0co's suggestion of the 'delete post' function should be added too :P

hey jo_lynn, thanks for your input!! ^^ Actually it's funny, cause I was going to post a "recruiting" thread last night to recruit some modertators and contributors, but then I decided to wait a bit longer, to wait til the board grows a bit more. (It's still a relatively small board right now)

Having observed the activity going in the board, I actually already have a few members in mind that I was going to personally ask/invite to help moderate certain sections because I've noticed that they are really dedicated members and have really contributed to the board.

Also, the reason I haven't added more forums/categories yet is because I didn't want too many forums that didn't have a lot of topics. It makes the board look so dead haha. But yes, I'm definitely going to expand once we have enough topics within a 'category' to warrant its own forum. ^__^

As for the 'delete post', I have to investigate that. Since the forum is hosted remotely, I might not have the power to modify that option for regular users. So I have to see..

BTW, I was just wondering, does it cost a lot to not use remotely hosted forum?

It doesn't "cost a lot" per se... well, it depends on the hosting service.

The host I'm currently with right now is actually very generous with space and bandwidth, but the problem with forums is that ... [begin techie speak. you can skip this if you want] all the pages(threads) are generated dynamically... so it uses a lot more CPU power than static pages. When the forum becomes really busy, it will consume much more CPU minutes, and I think my host is kind of picky with that... (I've never had problems yet, but I've seen it happen to other people who are with the same host). I was just scared that when the board uses too many minutes, my host might temporarily disable my account, which will affect the main site http://bosco-wong.com, and I certainly didn't want that. [end technie speak]

The other option would be to find a different host who isn't as picky about CPU minutes... though my budget is.. erm... low right now :( I have tuition to pay >.<

Ya...I agree, Kozzi has done a great job! Just within one month, there are already 68 registered members, not taking into consideration those unregistered members who are just browsing through the forum... :lol: That's a great achievement! :D

I really hope more Bosco fans would register and join the discussion. I really want to create a nice friendly community and family that everyone feels a part of ^__^
